Make an appointment
Do you have dizziness, vertigo, instability, motion sensitivity or balance complaints? You can make an appointment for a specialized assessment at Duizeligheid.nl.
Duizeligheid.nl is a specialized primary-care practice for the diagnosis and treatment of dizziness and balance complaints. The practice is part of Fysiotherapie Douma Hilversum.
When can you make an appointment?
You can make an appointment for complaints such as:
- Vertigo
- Dizziness when turning over in bed
- Dizziness when lying down or standing up
- Instability while walking
- Unsteady walking
- Blurred vision with movement
- Motion sensitivity
- Dizziness in busy environments
- Residual symptoms after BPPV
- Residual symptoms after vestibular neuritis
- Long-lasting dizziness symptoms
- Balance problems in older adults
An appointment may also be useful if you have already seen your GP, ENT specialist or neurologist and residual complaints remain.
Do you need a referral?
A referral is not always needed. You can also register directly for physiotherapy assessment and treatment.
If you do have a referral from your GP, ENT specialist, neurologist or another healthcare provider, please bring it with you to the first consultation. Reports from previous assessments, a medication overview or a hearing test can also help to focus the assessment more effectively.
When is medical assessment needed first?
Duizeligheid.nl is not intended as a replacement for acute medical care.
First contact your GP, out-of-hours GP service or emergency department in the case of acute severe dizziness or symptoms such as double vision, difficulty speaking, loss of strength, sensory disturbances, severe coordination problems, sudden hearing loss, loss of consciousness, sudden severe headache, new neck pain in combination with acute dizziness, or being unable to stand or walk independently.
After medical assessment, Duizeligheid.nl can play a role in the subacute phase or recovery phase with further vestibular diagnostics and rehabilitation.
What can you expect?
During the first consultation, your symptoms will be discussed in detail. First we discuss what the dizziness feels like, when the symptoms occur, how long they last and which movements or situations trigger them.
This is followed by a physical examination tailored to your symptoms. This may include assessment of eye movements, nystagmus, the functioning of the balance system, positional dizziness, balance, walking pattern, neck function and blood pressure changes when standing up.
After the assessment, we discuss the findings and advice. Sometimes treatment can be started immediately. In other situations, the advice may be to arrange additional assessment through your GP or specialist.
